BUYING AND PERSONALISING

You know already your travel dates and when exactly you want to use your Vienna City Card.
Step 1: choose Vienna City Card type, optional add-ons and number of cards
Step 2: personalise and activate your order
Step 3: chose app- or print@home-ticket, date, and time of use
Step 4: purchase your Vienna City Card
Use card later:
You don't want to decide just yet? You can personalise and acitvate later. As soon as the time of your arrival in Vienna is certain, either call up the personalisation link in your order e-mail confirmation or personalise directly in the web shop
by using your 12-digit order number and your last name.
Step 1: choose Vienna City Card type, optional add-ons and number of cards
Step 2: tick checkbox to personalise your card later
Step 3: purchase your Vienna City Card
Step 4: personalise and activate your order up to 6 months after purchase
Step 5: choose app- or print@home-ticket, date, and time of use
Your Vienna City Card is now ready to be used for the period of time you have chosen.
App- and print@home-tickets no longer need to be validated.
Gift vouchers can be redeemed as either app- or print@home-tickets.
Physical Vienna City Cards must be validated before the first journey and are available from tourist-infos, hotels, tobacconists, and various other partners.
WERE CAN I GET THE VIENNA CITY CARD?
Choose between a physical or digital Vienna City Card:
- in the online shop, viennacitycard.at and in the ivie app, ivie.wien.info - digital
- in the Tourist-Infos at the airport or in the city centre/Albertinaplatz - physical
- in the WienMobil app and the Wiener Linien sales points - digital/physical
- in the WESTbahn online shop, westbahn.at and the WESTbahn sales points - digital/physical
- at the CAT sales point at the airport - physical
- in partner hotels and travel agencies - digital/physical

WHEN AND HOW DO I PERSONALISE MY VIENNA CITY CARD?
Each Vienna City Card must be personalised before use. You can personalise your order immediately or later; no later than 6 months after the date of purchase.
Your Vienna City Card discounts are valid for a maximum of 7 days from your day of arrival. For the public transport ticket, you can enter the desired date and an exact time. You will find a personalisation link in your order confirmation email.
DO I HAVE TO PERSONALISE MY ENTIRE ORDER?
Yes, you must always personalise the entire order at the same time. It is not possible to choose different periods of use. E. g. if you buy 4 tickets, you must personalise and activate all 4 tickets for the same timespan. You can not only personalise 2 tickets immediately and 2 later. You need multiple orders to use Vienna City Card(s) for different time periods.
DOES THE 24/48/72h VALIDITY OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT TICKET BEGIN AT THE TIME OF PERSONALISATION?
You can choose the start date and the exact start time for the 24/48/72h ticket for Wiener Linien when personalising and activating your Vienna City Card order. From the selected time onwards, you can use the public transport. No further validation is required (applies to app- and print@home-tickets).
ARE THE 24/48/72 H TICKETS ACTUAL HOURS OR CALENDAR DAYS?
These are hours. The 24/48/72h refer to the validity of the Wiener Linien ticket. It is valid exactly for the period you selected during the personalisation and activation process.
ACTIVATION IN A DIFFERENT TIMEZONE
If you activate your Vienna City Card and you are in a different time zone, the time you have entered will be displayed in your time zone. As soon as you have arrived in Vienna, the local time is automatically displayed.
ARE CHILDREN INCLUDED IN THE VIENNA CITY CARD?
Each Vienna City Card 24/48/72h includes free travel for public transport for a child under the age of 15 or a dog.
As soon as your child is 15 years old, you will have to buy a separate ticket.
-> Add-On Airport Transfer: 2 children under the age of 15 travel for free.
-> Add-On Hop-On Hop-Off tour: 1 child under the age of 15 travels for free.
I ACCIDENTALLY HAVE CHOSEN THE DELIVERY OPTION “APP” BUT WANTED A PRINT@HOME-TICKET. IS THERE A POSSIBILITY TO CHANGE THE TICKET TYPE?
No, it is not possible to change the ticket type after you have completed the personalisation and activation process. App and print@home-tickets are different ticket types in our system and therefore it is not possible to change it or use both options.
WHEN I PERSONALISED MY VIENNA CITY CARD, I ENTERED THE WRONG DATE. CAN I CHANGE THAT?
No, it is not possible to adjust the date. We recommend that you personalise your Vienna City Card(s) shortly before departure to be able to react flexibly to short-term changes in your travel plans. Please check all your entries before you personalise irrevocably.
Due to Wiener Linien guidelines, we cannot cancel or refund personalised and activated tickets.
TICKET VALIDITY ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
We would like to point our that checks of your tickets on public transportation through conductors and in stations all over Vienna must be expected. Anyone without a valid ticket will be fined 105 Euro. If you do not pay on the spot, the fee increases to a total of 115 Euro.
ARE THERE DISCOUNTED VIENNA CITY CARDS FOR DISABLED, SENIOR CITIZENS, STUDENTS, OR GROUPS?
No, the Vienna City Card does not offer any special rates for disabled, senior citizens, students, or group travellers.
It is not possible to combine a Vienna City Card with other cards such as student cards, “Niederösterreich-Card”, disability card or similar.
Every discount can be redeemed once.
CAN I USE THE VIENNA CITY CARD TO GET DISCOUNTS WHEN BUYING TICKETS IN ADVANCE AND ONLINE?
You can purchase discounted tickets at selected partners before your trip to Vienna.

If you have selected the delivery option "App-ivie", you can load your tickets into the app by clicking on the link in your personalisation email. We recommend installing the App ivie - Vienna Guide before.

CAN I USE THE WIENER LINIEN TICKETS FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND ALL DISCOUNTS WHEN I AM NOT ONLINE?
To import your City Card into the app, you need internet access. Once you have added your card to the app, it will be available offline.
AIRPORT TRANSFER AND HOP-ON HOP-OFF
WHAT IS AN ADD-ON?
Add-ons are services that you can book optionally and additionally to your Vienna City Card. You can extend the classic Vienna City Card, which gives you 24/48/72h of free public transport.
With the add-on AIRPORT TRANSFER you can book the transfer from and to Vienna International Airport.
With the Add-On HOP-ON HOP-OFF you can book a 24h hop-on hop-off tour.
CAN I DECIDE LATER TO BUY AN ADD-ON?
Yes, if you are interested in one of our additional offers after completing your purchase, you can book the AIRPORT TRANSFER and/or HOP-ON HOP-OFF in the Tourist-Info at the airport or Albertinaplatz. Add-ons are available for all Vienna City Card types (physical or digital). The add-ons are to be paid directly at the Tourist-Info.
